Serbian pianist Milena Gligić is a proud member of Contemporaneous, which she joined while she was a collaborative piano fellow at the Bard College Conservatory of Music (2011-2013). She previously studied at Faculty of Music in Belgrade and Mannes College in New York City. Before she came to the United States in 2010, she specialized in chamber music, studied jazz and classical singing, worked full time in a music school as an accompanist and traveled around the world as a singer and pianist of the female choir Collegium Musicum, with whom she had around 400 performances — the most recent one at Carnegie Hall in 2013. As a pianist who works most closely with vocalists, Milena attended Songfest in Malibu (2011), was a vocal piano fellow at Aspen Music Festival (2012) and an opera pianist at Siena Music Festival in Italy (2013). Currently she is a Collaborative Piano DMA student of Rita Sloan at the University of Maryland, where she was awarded an opera assistantship. Always a passionate choral singer, she is now a member of the UMD Chamber Singers as well.
