Kate Dreyfuss — violin

New York-based violinist Kate Dreyfuss is a versatile performer of classical and contemporary repertoire. She is a core member of the ensemble Contemporaneous, which was recently praised by the New York Times for a "ferocious, focused performance" at the Bang on a Can Marathon. Kate has performed widely throughout the New York area with such artists as the Kronos Quartet, Sondra Radvanovsky, and Courtney Love, and with such ensembles as LoftOpera, the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, and the Aeon Music Ensemble. Festival appearances include Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Mostly Mozart, the Bard Music Festival, and PROTOTYPE. In January 2016 she will be a featured artist at the Festival Internacional de Música Académica Contemporánea in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Kate is a graduate of Princeton University, with honors, where she was concertmaster and principal second violin of the Princeton University Orchestra and participated in chamber music workshops with members of the Brentano Quartet.

She is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at Stony Brook University, studying with Jennifer Frautschi, Arnaud Sussman, Philip Setzer, and Ryan Meehan. Previous teachers include Louise Behrend and Elizabeth Chang at the Pre-College Division of The Juilliard School.
