Praised by the Calgary Herald for her "lyrical sensitivity," Fanya Wyrick-Flax is an innovative and elegant performer. An active freelance musician in the New York tristate area and Boston, Fanya has performed with ensembles including New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, MidAtlantic Opera, Ensemble 212, EQ Ensemble and The Conductors Institute Orchestra at Bard College; and at music festivals including Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors and Bard Music Festival. An ardent proponent of new music, Fanya is the core flutist of Contemporaneous, a New York based new music ensemble devoted to performing works by living composers, as well as the flutist in the Boston-based new music flute/harp duo kairos. She can be heard in several recordings with Contemporaneous including the ensemble’s debut album Stream of Stars — Music of Dylan Mattingly (Innova), TORUS (Roven Records) and The NYFA Collection, Vol. 2 (Innova).
